Description

This elite event has been 20 years in the making, and you're not going to want to miss it! Get out your ball gowns and get ready to recognize a legacy of achievement and female scholarship in style. The Al-Mu'minah 20th Anniversary Gala will be an evening of fun, fashion, friendship, and excitement with a purpose!

Aside from the mosques, Al-Mu'minah is the longest running Muslim organization in Phoenix. It was founded in 1995 by a group of diverse and determined Muslim teenage girls and a couple of supportive adult advisers. It was formed to provide support, leadership opportunities, and halal socialization and recreational outlets for young Muslim women and their families in a time when there were limited options. Many of the founders are today's leaders in the community and in society. One of our events, the Al-Mu'minah Graduation Reception had become the most attended all women, Muslim community event in Arizona.

After a three-year hiatus we are here to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this trailblazing organization with this wonderful gala. We will do this with an uplifting program which will include a keynote speaker, delicious dinner and conclude with an after party of music and dancing. So, don't delay! Purchase your tickets today before they sell out. Celebrate this special occasion with us, your friends, and family! A special photo area will be available for you to take pictures to cherish the memories of what will be an unforgettable night, InshaAllah!

We will celebrate the golden era of a legacy of Muslim women achievement in Arizona with the elegance of a golden era of Hollywood theme. So, go all out and have fun with it!

We can't wait to see you there!

When should I arrive?...and 9 more Frequently Asked Questions about the 20th Anniversary Al-Mu'minah Gala

The 20th Anniversary Al-Mu'minah Gala is Sunday! We can't wait to celebrate our 20th Anniversary with you! To get you prepared for the event, here is a list of the top questions we are asked. Please read over them thoroughly as there is special information inside for you! If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 480.688.9185.

10 Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What time should I arrive to the Gala and should I pray Magrib before I come?
The Al-Mu'minah Gala is not like your typical event. Be early! Doors open at 5:30pm. Take pictures on the red carpet and socialize before the program kicks off at 6pm. Not only that, the first 100 ladies to arrive at the venue before 6pm will have an opportunity to win a beautiful gift basket of artisan goods donated by Helping Hands Relief. These beautiful pieces were handcrafted by refugee women seeking a better life! Plan to pray Magrib in congregation at the venue with your sisters. Magrib prayer marks the start of the program. A place to pray will be provided on site. A place with mirrors to primp your hair and refresh makeup will be provided inside the ballroom. Also, please keep in mind that the registration staff is volunteer. Your on time arrival ensures that they will also be able to enjoy the event.

2. What should I wear?
Attire for the event is formal evening wear. Formal cultural attire, evening/ball gowns, or dressy suits are ideal. In honor of the occasion, please no jeans, t-shirts, casual wear, or sports attire. Graduates being recognized on stage are asked to come also wearing a tiara or flower corsage to stand out. Although this event is sisters' only and no hijabs will be required, please keep outfits/clothes at least knee-length and appropriate insha'Allah. The theme is old hollywood glamour so have fun with it! All staff and waiters are female and exterior doors will be locked.

3. I don't know a graduate this year, should I still come?
Of course you should! While we will be recognizing the graduates, this event is not a graduation celebration as we have had in the past. The Gala celebrates Al-Mu'minah's 20th Anniversary, Muslim women achievement and sisterhood with a nice program, a delicious dinner as well as an open dance floor to work off the dessert!

4. Can I bring my baby?
This event is for ladies only and mature girls 10 years old and up. We are unable to accommodate babies of any age, nursing or otherwise. No boys, babies and absolutely no men are allowed. This is strictly enforced for the comfort of all of our guests.

5. Can I buy tickets at the door?
Absolutely no tickets are sold at the door. For the comfort of our guests, organizers are careful to plan for enough seating and food for the event. In order to not be wasteful of either, ticket sales close Saturday, October 10th at 5pm. You can buy your tickets online until then at http://www.almuminahtickets.yapsody.com/... We are almost at capacity so buy your tickets now if you have not already done so. We don't want you to miss out!

6. Will there be music played during the gala?
Yes and no. Over the years, Al-Mu'minah has gone through great lengths to be sensitive to accommodate the various perspectives our sisters have about music. There will be an opportunity after dinner for guests who do not wish to listen to the dance party music to leave or relax in the lobby before the open dance floor starts. Requests for songs during the after party were taken beforehand in order to be monitored for content.

7. Can I still buy tickets?
Yes! While supplies last. Ticket sales will close, however, this Saturday, October 10th at 5pm AZ. Tickets are purchased online at http://www.almuminahtickets.yapsody.com/... Tickets are $35 before October 5th and $45 per person thereafter.

8. Can I still be recognized as a graduate?
Yes! If you are a Muslim sister who graduated from high school, undergrad, or graduate school since 2012 through December 2015, come and be recognized on stage! Your accomplishments are very important mashaAllah. Whether young or old, seeing our sisters succeed is an inspiration. To stand out, graduates are asked to wear a tiara or a flower corsage of their choosing. Email Al-Mu'minah at almuminahgroup@yahoo.com to let us know you will be coming. Invite out your friends and family to cheer you on! Graduates and their guests buy tickets online at http://www.almuminahtickets.yapsody.com/...

9. How can I show additional support for Al-Mu'minah?
Events like this require your duas and support. In order to keep costs reasonable, provide access to women and girls who want to attend but can't afford to, and give our sisters and youth special and unique environments to socialize, the support of people like you is essential. Whether you are attending the Gala in person or not, if you are an individual or a business owner who supports young Muslim women achievements contact Dr. Aneesah Nadir at 480.233.6547 for a sponsorship package. Sponsorship packages are sized to accommodate various levels of giving. The Gala is not a fundraising event, however, donations can be made on site. No gift is too small or too big. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

10. I'm coming to the gala and I'd like to get my information out to the couple of hundred ladies in attendance. May I bring information to share?
Yes! Gala attendees who have a business or an organization are invited to bring flyers and business cards to the event. A special networking table has been designated to place those materials on and attendees will be directed to peruse that table for information before and after the event. Please do not place business cards or flyers on tables outside of the designated networking table or pass them out during the event. No vending, mass flyer distribution, or fundraising for other than Al-Mu'minah will be permitted on site. Of course, if you make a personal connection with a guest, feel free to share your information with them! We definitely wish to encourage networking, strengthening sisterhood bonds, and supporting the organizations and businesses in our community.
